COLLABORATING AROUND A SOCIAL PURPOSE

Clifford Moss from Good Business Matters shared his personal journey of establishing social enterprises overseas and in Australia, their growth, their challenges and the learning that comes with working with others towards our purpose.

His current collaborative project, The Good Xmas Trail - where consumers and organisations can choose to buy from ethical businesses during the holidays, was one many examples of where stakeholders across several sectors have furthered their objectives while Making Good Change along the way.

Clifford also reminded us that with the limited time that we are given, we should respect the two most important days of our lives - the day we were born, and the day that we find out why.

CHRISTINE SMITH

GROWING GOOD - SERVING A COMMUNITY'S APPETITE

Christine Smith from Recipe4Change and Rowville Community Kitchen - a social enterprise providing long-term unemployed community members essential skills while converting reclaimed food into meals for those affected by food poverty, took us on her personal journey where she discovered her belief that she could change the lives through food.

Working within a situation that was not only less than satisfying but was also not providing the solutions that the community needed, Christine used food to engage people in isolation to engage with their peers and rediscover physical activity.

Launching her own social enterprise, Christine expanded on how working with community stakeholders has helped the Recipe4Change team grow from their humble beginnings to now being one of Australia's most successful job-seekers programs.

LIVE LEARNING

Our Guests were asked to reflect on Clifford and Christine's journeys along with their own personal experiences that they will draw inspiration from to Make Good Change in our communities.

In a LIVE LEARNING exercise, groups took turns sharing their beliefs, experiences and ideas towards:

Showing Respect for People and Humanity

How Working With Purpose Overcomes Barriers and Bias

The Importance of Building Capability To Make More Good Change

A PURPOSE GREATER THAN OURSELVES

We proudly announced that Not-For-Profit, Non-Government and Charitable Organisations will be able to apply to the LEAN dot Group for assistance in the form of COMMUNITY KAIZEN activities.

The objective of our COMMUNITY KAIZEN activities is to raise the effectiveness of beneficiary organisations so that they can deliver more and better outcomes towards their missions in our communities.

All initiatives that we undertake through our COMMUNITY KAIZEN activities must be in support of at least 1 the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and UN 2030 Agenda Resolution.

On September 7, 2016, the UN Global Impact Network Australia released a major announcement outlining the collaboration of over 30 Australian Company CEOs to sign a statement of support towards the 2030 Agenda and SDGs.

The LEAN dot Group looks forward to engaging with these organisations in their journeys to making these objectives a reality.
